President Bush announced help for hundreds of thousands of homeowners on the verge of foreclosure.
Foreclosure rates show no sign of slowing
The news on the home front is startling - and depressing. The number of homeowners facing foreclosure grew by 71 percent in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period a year ago. Nationally, 766,000 homes received at least one foreclosure-related notice during the period, according to Realty-Trac Inc.
